Peer critiques - some useful words

Places to buy art materials and Books for advice and tips

Locally, you can buy materials in shops such as The Works, various locations; Hobbycraft (Team Valley); Rymans in Eldon Square; WH Smith, Northumberland Street; Details on lower Westgate Road (inside Newcastle Arts Centre at the back); Hatton gallery (Newcastle University, shop in foyer weekdays), Blackwells Bookshop, Haymarket (in the basement); and Boundary Mills, Shiremoor.

Online this is a good site with home delivery, click on these links:

Shop around all these and others for short term bargains. Blackwells often have very good end of line sales  but they sell out quickly, as do the others. Only way to pick up on these sales is to visit the shops regularly as they do not usually advertise.

These three books are very good reference manuals and have some projects you can try to complement that we do in class.  Click on the image to go to Amazon for more information and prices. Shop around for further offers. The Colour Mixing Bible has a very useful guide to mixing colours and showing what you get with the various combinations - very handy when you are struggling to match a colour.
