You will probably be best to take photos yourself of close-ups of old decaying walls and buildings, especially the old Victorian sandstone and granite buildings that are common around this area. Alternatively go to the library and get out a book on ruins and old buildings. The other option is of course the good old internet. Try typing: "textured old walls in ruined buildings" into Google and then click on "images" in the black bar at the top of the page. Here is what I found there to give you a bit of an idea of the possible subjects that can be included in this project:

Tuesday Group - GLASS project 26 February
This is the second week for the Tuesday group's GLASS project. Quite a challenging subject but didn't everyone rise magnificently to the task? Though many are still unfinished (an indication of the depth of observation going on) there are some superb "moments" in all the paintings. Next week we start our next project - RUINS. Everyone is to find a large image of a ruined building to work from. There will be some taster images on this blog/VLE shortly.

Monday Group - GLASS project 25 February
Week two in our glass project shows remarkable progress and variety as the pictures below demonstrate. Next week some of us will start on the RUINS project whilst the rest will start on a monochrome exercise - the custard paintings :-). Alternatively if folks need to carry on with their glass painting that's okay too as we all find it difficult sometimes to fit in painting around our daily lives. Meanwhile enjoy the images below:

Tuesday Group - Glass Project 19 Feb
The Tuesday group started their glass project paintings this week. After discussing the particular characteristics of glass - how it reflects and refracts light and colour, how it transforms objects around it and seen through it - we then each analysed a particular image using a line drawing technique before moving onto the first painting stage. Here are the results of the evening's class which will be continued next week:

Monday Group: Glass Project 18 Feb
We started our next project tonight: glass - transformative properties. We started by discussing a range of sample images to start the deconstruction process. Then we did a line drawing to tease out the answers to the 2-D puzzle that is any subject. Following the analysis-through-drawing stage we start laying the glazes of colour starting wet on dry to retain sharp edges.
