Final stage of DOF project

This week we wrapped up our depth of field (DOF) project paintings and some others we were working on. Next week we start our new and final project of this term: emotive, transformative landscapes. More on that in the next blog post. Here are the final DOF images showing that we have all learned so much in such a short space of time.

One New Thing To Think About

Mary Harju
This week we took some time out to consider an aspect of art that we often do not think about - the place and value of art created by women. Whilst there is no shortage of work produced to the highest standards and creativity by women in the 20th and 21st centuries, when we pause to think who our favourite artists are we quickly reel off the names of male artists but most of us struggle to name any or more than a couple of female artists, why? We looked at a random selection of art by women over the past 100 years and discussed this question.
There are resources opposite for those who want to go further into this question and to look at past and current female artists. Click on the "One New Thing To Think About" resource page on the right.

DOF and other current works

This week we reviewed a wide range of the many paintings done at home and in class. In class tonight we concentrated our practical work on our current DOF project paintings (depth of field). Below you can see the excellent results of all the work done recently and the exciting DOF work in progress in class.
