Books that will help you on the course
I have recommended three books that will help you learning the basics and more complex skills in watercolour painting. Click on the resource page to the right of this post "Places to buy...and Books for advice and tips" for more information. You don't need to buy all three, have a look at each of them and decide which one or two take your fancy.

Welcome back to the new term!
Welcome back!
It's been a long summer without getting the paints wet but we are now all back and getting ready to go. This term we will be trying four projects: portrait painting, black painting, depth of field painting, and, emotive, transformative landscape painting. This week we will practice a technique for drawing the face, enlarging and transferring to the paper ready for painting which we will start next week.
Weeks 2 and 3 we will develop and complete our first project: portrait painting - a wonderful way to learn and relearn a wide range of techniques. Of course, always a daunting subject for any artist, at any level, portraiture is also a great way to get back into the way of painting and being creative.
See the RESOURCES pages to the right of this text for a step by step guide in pictures to help us with the first stage. Next week there will be another resource page guide to help us during the following two weeks.

Sadly tonight was our final session for this term. We return in September - refreshed! Here are the final project pictures as they were by the end of the session. Some truly remarkable "moments" in every painting regardless of which stage they are at in the process of making.

Final project, final two weeks, loads to look at!
We are now into our final project of this term with a free choice of subject and techniques for learners to work on over the two weeks. Next, and final, class is Wednesday 4 July. As we can see from the selection below, here is an incredible range of subject matter and approaches which means we can all learn from each other in a rich resource being created by the group. Main paintings are accompanied by details to highlight some of the fantastic skills that are being developed.
